About the project
Our Vision
Beyond Stereotypes is a Gender Studies class project developed by a group of students at Johannes Kepler University Linz.
Through real stories and role-model profiles, we want to show that there is no single correct path into STEM and IT.
People enter the field from many different backgrounds, with different experiences, challenges, and motivations.
We also want to emphasize that tech jobs are not only about coding or technical knowledge.
Modern IT depends on diversity, creativity, communication, empathy, and different ways of problem-solving.
By making these paths more visible, we hope to encourage students and young people, especially those
who do not often see themselves represented in tech, to feel that they belong and that their perspective matters.

Project Goal
Our goal is to challenge stereotypes about who belongs in STEM and IT. We want to make diverse role models more visible and encourage people, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, to see technology as a realistic and accessible career path.
Why stories?
People often imagine STEM and IT through narrow stereotypes. A story-based project lets us show a wider set of paths: different backgrounds, different motivations, and different ways of belonging in technical fields.
